FR 50 FLP
The boards of the freeride series have been developed with the concentrated knowledge of VIRUS.
Four shapes cover the full range of freeriding. At VIRUS, perfection means that with these boards you can also ride the iciest or crustiest scarps with ease and full control, because the edges will hold. Relaxed highspeed turns in powder as well as carving on prepared slopes will become effortless and will greatly benefit from these boards’ superior chatterfree smoothness. They feature the VIRUS ash-poplar woodcore as well as carbon stringers and quadraxial fiber glass cloth. VIRUS freerideboards come with the same thick running bases and edges as the VIRUS Alpine boards and they are ultralight despite their strong and durable construction.
A novel cloth made from 12K carbon fiber makes the construction of even lighter boards and skis possible.
The great advantage of this cloth is that the carbon fibers are layered in a very low profile, so the technological benefits of the fiber can be fully reaped.
This allows for astonishingly light boards! As a result, we’re achievieng a mere 2.73kg with the FR 168 FLP, despite its waist width of 26.0 cm. The FR 162 FLP only weighs in at 2.54kg – without the sacrifice of strength and durability!

Actually, VIRUS is famous for narrow, aggressive Alpine snowboards, BUT when fresh powder in the backcountry is calling, the VIRUS team also rides off-piste.
Of course, the professional craftsmen at VIRUS also use their knowledge from the production of Alpine snowboards for the production of fully developed freeride boards with sensational riding characteristics.
